Twin Turbo Mazda RX-7 Turns 8.1-Second Quarter-Mile

Twin Turbo Mazda RX-7 Turns 8.1-Second Quarter-Mile 01Despite evenings that involve pulling a small trailer across the Midwest (during Drag Week 2015), this Chevy powered 1990 Mazda RX-7 overcomes oil leaks and overheating problems to post some low eight-second times and a top speed of more than 180 mph.

This bright green modified import is equipped with a Chevrolet big block engine bored out to around 460-cubic-inches. That seems pretty bodacious but this racer has added a pair of monstrous 75-millimeter turbochargers. The car seems a little sluggish coming out of the hole but it blazes through the trap like a champ. At 1,400hp, when this guy gets the bugs worked out of his hole-shot, he is going to be a force with which to be reckoned.
