Record Breaking Honda S2000 – Half-Mile Airstrip Attack

October 9th, 2020

The standing half-mile is an excellent test of top speed and durability. The 2020 Indy Airstrip Attack attracted some of the most capable half-mile machines in the country. One of the most capable of these competitors is a Honda S2000 with a heck of an attitude. Car owner Stuart Leiby and T1 Race Development have built a record shattering Honda S2000 without even swapping the engine. Under the hood is the stock F22C1 DOHC Vortec motor (block and crankshaft) with a 68-millimeter Xona Rotor turbocharger. The F22C1 motor is cylinder sleeved from the factory, making it an ideal candidate for Read More

Twin Turbo 1956 Chevy – Indy Airstrip Attack Half-Mile

October 2nd, 2020

One does not expect to find a twin turbocharged drag car on a half-mile airstrip course – certainly not a vintage hot rod with plans to approach a 200 mph top speed. Obviously, this 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air is beautiful. Despite being a purpose-built drag car, this classic has the body of a show car. Let’s have a closer look. Under the hood of this black beauty is a 632 cubic-inch big block engine by Bischoff Engine Service (BES). Forced air induction is handled with a pair of 88-millimeter turbochargers. The transmission is a GM 4L80 automatic and the rear Read More

200 MPH C7 Corvette Tops World Record

September 23rd, 2020

At last! Often maligned, the Chevrolet C7 Corvette has finally eclipsed the 200 mph pinnacle. Corvette C7 owner Michael Stout has teamed up with Vengeance Racing to take the Indy Airstrip Attack by storm. After four-years of trying, the Vengeance Team not only sets a new C7 World Record, they totally obliterate the old record of 196 mph with a new World Record of 216.34 mph. This car would continue to post 210+ mph passes all weekend. The baddest of all C7s is modified with an LSX Tall Deck engine block from Chevy Performance. This mill has all the right Read More

200 MPH Grocery Getter – Cadillac CTS V Wagon

September 11th, 2020

The venue is the Kansas Airstrip Attack, a half-mile closed course airstrip designed to measure top speed in performance vehicles. Having that said, what is this station wagon doing on the course? Well, it’s not your granny’s station wagon. This bad Caddy is loaded with a big V8 engine and – get this – a manual 6-speed transmission. It also posts a (personal best) top speed of 200.26 MPH! Have a look. Under the hood is the factory 6.2-liter engine built by Horsepower Solutions of Newport News, Virginia, who also did all the turbo work. The engine bay is sans Read More

900HP Audi Sedan – 9-Second Street Sleeper

September 8th, 2020

As a veteran street racer, nothing cranks my tractor quite like a street sleeper. The Audi featured in this video is a prime example of what a street sleeper – one that makes 900hp and cranks out 9-second quarter mile passes at will. With a complete interior, air conditioning and premium audio, this 2018 Audi RS3 is a daily driver. Under the hood of this all-wheel drive sedan is a turbocharged 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. In factory trim, the RS3 makes 400hp and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5-seconds. Obviously, Read More

Exotic Airstrip Attack – Lamborghini vs. McLaren vs. Pagani vs. Porsche

April 28th, 2020

All the heavy hitters are lined up for this one. The course is a half-mile abandoned airstrip and the scenery is nothing short of amazing. Competitors are flowing into the venue via some of the curviest roads on the planet and the exotics are piling up – each one eager to test his mettle in the standing half-mile. The Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV (complete with a very loud Akrapovic racing exhaust) has a 750hp 6.5-liter V12 screeching under the bonnet. A 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 that can produce 789hp is working away in the McLaren Senna and the McLaren 720S Read More

The Ford GT is powered by a 3.5L Twin Turbocharged V6 with 647HP while the McLaren 720S runs a 4.0L Twin Turbocharged V8 making a very conservative 710HP as per McLaren. While both use a 7speed dual clutch transmission with launch control and use carbon tubs, the McLaren comes in a couple hundred pounds lighter on the scales resulting in a much better power to weight ratio.

AWD GMC Syclone – Turbo LS Swap

August 21st, 2019

Is it the Darth Vader paint scheme? Is it the wide stance or the big tires? Could it be gapping Z06s in the half-mile? Maybe it’s the owner, Tom Joy? Tom can be irritating. He has a personalized tag plate – ‘nuff said. Is it the LS swap? Oh, that’s it. It’s the LS swap that makes this the most hated truck on the internet. Dedicated Cyclone (GMC) and Typhoon (Oldmobile) aficionados cringe when they see a guy like Tom yanking the turbocharged V6 in favor of a big V8. Trouble is that even the most rabid Cyclone fan can’t Read More
