October 30th, 2024

Top Gear Magazine Editor in Chief, Jack Rix is making it his personal mission to determine which of these twelve models is the Best Performance Car of 2024. You may be surprised at some of the entries. At any rate, Jack will take to the Navarra Race Circuit in Northern Spain in an effort to separate the contenders from the pretenders. Here’s the lineup: First is the Audi Auto Union Type 52 Schnellsportswagen. This ugly duckling looks like a fish out of water in this field. Looks can be deceiving. Originally designed in the 1930s, this peculiar rear-engine car is Read More

Baddest Bentley Ever – 782HP Continental GT Speed

October 2nd, 2024

We are reconnecting with Top Gear Honcho Ollie Marriage for a look at the all-new Bentley Continental GT Speed. Ollie will climb behind the wheel of what is being called the baddest Bentley yet. He will put the car through its paces on the winding thoroughfares of the scenic Swiss Alps. So, what makes this Bentley so special? Frankly, it all begins with balance. For the first time ever, the Continental GT Speed has near perfect front-to-rear weight distribution. This dramatically improves handling and makes the car feel less clumsy in the corners. While previous models have featured heavy W12 Read More

McMurtry Spéirling Pure vs. Porsche GT3 RS – Drag Race

September 26th, 2024

Greetings gearheads, speed freaks and racing fans of every ilk. Please allow me to introduce Ollie Marriage Head of Car Testing for Top Gear Magazine. Today, Ollie will treat us to a thorough track test of what is arguably the most innovative vehicle on earth. After that, he’ll show us how badly the McMurtry Spéirling can whoop a Porsche GT3 RS in a head-to-head drag race. Sound good? Imagine virtually unlimited downforce without drag. Baffles the mind, doesn’t it? That’s exactly what the McMurtry Spéirling offers. The car utilizes powerful fans, spinning at rates as high as 23,000 RPM, to Read More

Kansas City Cash Days 2019 – 40+ Entry Field

September 4th, 2019

Here we have the biggest street race to ever occur on U.S. (Mexican) soil. It is attended by 40+ of the most amazing small tire street/strip cars in the world. Yes, there are cars here from virtually every region of the country and several foreign countries. In typical street (dig) racing fashion, this full movie begins with a driver’s meeting and some call outs. Once the rules were established – they’re simple; don’t jump early, don’t cross the center line and (finally) be the first to cross the finish line – individual matchups were decided by call out and blind Read More

Gearhead Gathering – Rocky Mountain Race Week 2019

June 18th, 2019

Welcome to one of the most grueling tests of man and machine to be found anywhere on earth. Drag cars – designed to accelerate quickly over a short distance, reach a maximum speed and suddenly come to a near halt – are charged with travelling to four venues over seven-days. The drag cars must be driven the 1,000-miles (roundtrip) over the Rocky Mountains and back! Bru-tal! It is common to see a tubbed-out muscle car or late model, pulling a travel trailer full of tools and car parts, during Rocky Mountain Race Week. Unfortunately, it’s also pretty common to see Read More

700HP 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS – Track Testing

July 13th, 2017

This is a unique and well produced video that takes you inside the 2018 Porsche GT2 RS. You are sucked into the functional air intake, through one of the turbochargers, into the engine, and spit out the tailpipe. It’s awesome! Porsche recently unveiled their most powerful and most expensive version of the GT2 RS during one of the most prestigious annual automotive gatherings in existence. In true Porsche style, the car was not simply put on static display but driven aggressively on a closed track. The Goodwood Festival of Speed (Sussex, England) was treated to an awesome display of speed Read More

New Half-Mile GT-R Top Speed Record

June 19th, 2017

Congratulations to Extreme Turbo Systems (ETS) and English Racing. They have (once again) carved themselves out a place in the history of speed. The venue for this prolific undertaking was the ShiftS3ctor/Revolution Pike’s Peak Airstrip Attack in Colorado. Before the event began, Lucas English was heard to say that he would be pleased to surpass the previous top speed world record in the standing mile. That record was 252 mph. That was considered pretty optimistic since Pike’s Peak is only a half-mile course. The ETS GT-R is at the forefront of 1-mile, half-mile, and quarter-mile GT-R racing. These guys have Read More

Nissan Drone Does 0 to 60 mph in 1.3-Seconds

June 23rd, 2016

Today Nissan introduces us to their new high-performance drone. Its sole purpose is to track and film the 2017 Nissan GT-R during high-speed maneuvers but today it will race against the GT-R. This impressive drone is built by Tornado XBlades Racing and piloted by James Bowles (2015 British National Drone Racing Champ). The race will take place on the 1/2-mile track at Silverstone (U.K.). The GT-R top speed is an electronically controlled 195 mph. It should leave the drone in the dust (with its top speed of just 114 mph) but curves and hills must be taken into account. This Read More
