Fact or Fiction? Teslas get slower as their battery is depleted. One of the most common comments on our Tesla videos is related to performance losses as the battery state of charge in the Tesla goes down. Since we typically don’t run our Tesla’s charge down the low levels we never really experience noticeable performance losses. We have run multiple 0-60 tests as well as 1/4 mile runs back to back with many different Teslas and the times have always been relatively consistent. In the video below we test the Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous from 0-60 MPH as well as measure Read More
Tesla has released an update that includes a hidden easter egg to enable Ludicrous + offering higher performance for their P100D Model S and Model X vehicles. In this video we show you show to enable Ludicrous Plus as well as go over the additional diagnostic screens that are included as well as test out the 0-60 MPH Time.
Check out Tesla’s latest software update for the Model X which enables a hidden easter egg feature that is enabled by entering in a “secret” code. After putting in the code, leaving the car and pressing the lock button the key fob, the Tesla Model X puts on quite the show with synchronized flashing lights, music and falcon wing door dances. Check out the video below!
This video features at least two things that I hold near and dear: street racing and the beautiful state of North Carolina. The Tar Heel State has always held a special place in my heart, with its densely wooded mountains in the west and stunning beaches in the east, but experiencing the Tail of the Dragon (on my modified Harley Davidson Road King bagger) took it to a whole different level. Between that, some wonderful white whiskey (for medicinal purposes and in moderation), and some of the friendliest folks on earth, I can’t help but go back time and time Read More
Check out the Model S P100D and Model X P90D take on the competition at the StreetCarDrags event. Some of the competitors racing against the Tesla power house include an Audi R98 V10 Plus, Ferrari 488 GTB, Ferrari 458 Italia, Dodge Challenger Hellcat, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Cadillac CTS-V and a couple Camaros. Check the racing action in the compilation below:
A few years ago, I would never have dreamed that the terms “electric car” and “street racing” would be used in the same sentence. These days, the Porsche 918 is the king of the hill when it comes to hybrid cars (and cars in general, I guess) but when you talk about full on EV power, the name Tesla seems to remain at the forefront. We’ve all grown accustomed to seeing Tesla P90D sedans, dragging the four-wheeled competition in Ludicrous mode, particularly in dig races. Now, with improved top-end capability, this driver is ready to take on modified street bikes Read More
It’s another great race from the StreetCarDrags event with the Tesla Model S P100D taking on the Ferrari 488 GTB down the 1/4 mile with a photo finish at the end. Watch below to see how the cars stack up against each other and who wins!
We have some great racing footage from the StreetCarDrags.com event last weekend with a Tesla Model X P90D Ludicrous racing heads up against a Ferrari 458 Italia. While the instant torque and all wheel drive of the Model X catapults it off the line ahead of the Ferrari 458, the Italian supercar makes up some serious ground on it’s way trying to catch the Tesla before the end of the 1/4 mile. It’s a close one with the winner being determined by a great reaction time by the driver of the Model X (ToTheFloor), take a look at the racing Read More
While we took delivery of the Tesla Model S P100D a few weeks ago the South Florida daily rainstorms have been thwarting our attempts to run the car down the 1/4 mile. Finally the weather is changing and with the first “cold” front coming through and by “cold” front we mean a few hours of temps in the 70’s, we were able to get some 1/4 mile runs in at Palm Beach International Raceway. Electric car drag racing has come a long way since we started drag racing our P85 about 3 years ago, not only have the 1/4 miles times dropped astoundingly from Read More
Tesla Model S P100D 1/4 Mile Testing at Palm Beach International Raceway vs a Huracan and Nissan GT-RSeptember 24th, 2016
While we got rained out last week and weather wasn’t looking good for this week either, we headed out to Palm Beach International Raceway to give the all new Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous it’s first real world test down the 1/4 mile drag strip. Luckily the weather held and we got some awesome races in. To make things interesting we lined up the Tesla vs a Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 and based on previous runs with the Huracan and some Racelogic VBOX tests with the P100D, we knew it was going to be a close race. Behind the wheel of the Read More
