For those who don’t know; it’s Boo – got – EEEE. Best I can tell, that is either Italian or French for “Fast as heck!” (depending upon who you ask). Seriously though, Bugatti performance automobiles have been around since the early 1900s and this is likely to be the best of the lot. Of course, it is hard to foul things up when you start with nearly 1500hp and 1,200 lb.-ft. of torque. All that get-up-and-go is derived from a massive, mid-mounted, 8.0-liter W16 engine and four-turbochargers. Bugatti uses a two-stage turbocharger setup which features a pair of low RPM Read More
This could be billed as the most complete showdown of supercars ever compiled – with a few exceptions. The Bugatti entry is noticeably absent, there’s no Nissan GT-R, the Corvette Z06 was overlooked, the Dodge Viper ACR is nowhere to be seen, and what about Tesla? One more honorable mention might be the Koenigsegg Agera but that’s probably advancing into a different realm of automobiles. Nevertheless, this list is quite impressive and the video will leave any car enthusiast feeling as if they need to climb into the cockpit. The backdrop is a sunny RAF airstrip somewhere in the United Kingdom. The Read More
Get a load of this awesome (looking and sounding) 1500hp Bugatti Chiron as it manipulates the thin straits of legendary Goodwood Raceway. Amid a field that included every kind of exotic supercar that you can imagine, this beauty still managed to stand out. It is designed to be an improved replacement for the Veyron. An 8.0-liter, 16-cylinder engine utilizes four turbochargers to develop 1,500hp and 1,180 lb.-ft. of torque. The Chiron can rocket from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5-seconds. The electronically controlled top speed is 261 mph and the price tag is – brace yourself – approximately $2.6-million.
Sure, they look and sound impressive, but did you ever wonder what kind of numbers a high-performance supercar would put up on the dyno? Lamborghini, McLaren, Bugatti, or Ferrari; they all draw our attention and spark our imagination but few of us can dream of owning one. Nevertheless, my curiosity is aroused whenever I consider interjecting such an automobile into a street racing scenario. Anyways, check out the dyno test. This is a stock Ferrari 488 GTB with a 3.9-liter V8 with a dual-clutch 7-speed automated manual transmission. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3-seconds flat and Read More
From the moment that you hear the 918 driver gleefully exclaim, “Let’s get this #*@!%#@$”, you know that you are in for a hard fought drag race. Face it there are not too many cars that are going to take the hole shot away from a Porsche 918 Spyder. If there is one car that is capable, then it just might be the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport (world record top-speed production car). As expected, the Porsche grabs the initial advantage (at least in the first pass) and holds on until the 1320-foot mark in a desperate grab for victory. The Porsche Read More
Take a gander at this Swedish supercar as it tows the line against a Ferrari LaFerrari, a Porsche 918 Spyder, and finally against a Ferrari 458 Speciale. The VMAX200 Hypermax, held on a private runway near London, England, is a top speed driving event geared towards the world’s most exotic automobiles. Over a billion dollars worth of rolling-stock regularly participates in this contest that tries the limitations of sports cars such as the McLaren P1 and the Koenigsegg CCX, as well as various Bugatti, Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini models. The Koenigsegg Agera N, shown in this video, has been modified from stock. It features Read More
An abandoned airstrip makes the perfect backdrop for this quarter-mile challenge between two of the most advanced sports cars in the world. The Ferrari reputation for performance and style is legendary and the Bugatti has laid claim to at least a portion of the world record for top speed from a production car. Watch as these two beauties, one Italian and the other French, slug it out on the tarmac. With a sticker price of nearly $1.5-million, the LaFerrari is custom made to fit its owner precisely. Add a 949-horsepower 6.3-liter V12 hybrid-engine configuration, an autoshift manual transmission with overdrive, Read More
Peel your eyelids back and take a look at this 1200-hp Bugatti Veyron as it gives this late model BMW the hole shot, then comes back to garner a decisive victory in the eighth-mile. This one-sided affair takes place at an airstrip and features Dutch race driver Ho-Pin Tung in a BMW M3. Unfortunately for the Dutchman, the French made Bugatti was more than capable of giving the lead and then taking it away. The BMW M3 (particularly this European version) can hold its own in most contests of speed, with a 415-horsepower 4.0-liter V8 and slick-shifting transmission (whether you Read More
MotorTrend does a heads up drag race between a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport vs a Lamborghini Aventador on an airstrip. While the Aventador put up a good fight running 10.6 @ 133 MPH, it was no match for the Veyron, the current king of all super cars. The Veyron ended up about 5 cars ahead at the end of the 1/4 mile and it would have kept pulling away up to it’s top speed of 253 MPH. They also ran the Lexus LFA and McLaren MP4-12C, but those both got beaten pretty badly by the Aventador.
We were at Palm Beach International Raceway this evening when the owner of a black and blue Bugatti Veyron was coaxed to come over from the road course to make a couple of 1/4 mile runs against a lightly modified Nissan GT-R. One the first pass the launch control was not engaged and the Veryon crept off the line running a 12 flat @ 137 MPH. On the next run the Bugatti Veyron did not disappoint, running a 10.1 @ 139.4 MPH with ease. Take a look at the timeslip record, pictures and video below: Stock 2008 Bugatti Veyron 1/4 Read More
