Track-Only Bugatti Bolide – 1578HP Quad Turbo Beast

April 3rd, 2024

Adjectives used to describe the new Bugatti Bolide include deranged, demonic and excessive. All of these apply – and more. At a sticker price of $3.5 million, the Bolide has done away with frivolity and embraced one of the most tremendous powertrains ever produced in a pure race car. Shall we have a look?

At the heart of this predatory beast is an 8.0-liter quad turbo W16 engine capable of producing 1,578hp. At a dry vehicle weight of 2,733-pounds, the all-wheel drive Bolide can rocket from 0 to 62 mph in 2.17-seconds and continue to 100 mph in just 4.36-seconds. Top speed for the production model will be a detuned 261 mph. Originally, the top speed for the prototype was 311 mph.

The sophisticated FIA carbon-fiber monocoque shell and elite aerodynamic arrangement provide nearly three tons of downforce to make sure the Bolide sticks to the pavement like a mouse on a glue trap.

Only forty units will be made available for sale.

This Top Gear video treats us to a day at the track with Bugatti chief test driver (and Le Mans winner) Andy Wallace. Top Gear’s editor in chief Jack Rix is along for the ride. He’s just trying not to leave his lunch on the passenger floorboard. Good luck, Jack.
