Ultimate Exotic Car Showdown

October 3rd, 2016

This could be billed as the most complete showdown of supercars ever compiled – with a few exceptions. The Bugatti entry is noticeably absent, there’s no Nissan GT-R, the Corvette Z06 was overlooked, the Dodge Viper ACR is nowhere to be seen, and what about Tesla? One more honorable mention might be the Koenigsegg Agera but that’s probably advancing into a different realm of automobiles. Nevertheless, this list is quite impressive and the video will leave any car enthusiast feeling as if they need to climb into the cockpit. The backdrop is a sunny RAF airstrip somewhere in the United Kingdom. The Read More

Canadian Street Racing – Toronto Roll and Dig

September 9th, 2016

So, this is how they do it in the Great White North, eh? It seems like they really know how to get to it when it comes to high caliber street racing. All the heavy hitters showed up in Toronto – and on short notice, too. There is the usual onslaught of Camaros and Corvettes but there are also a couple of unusual rides, including an LS powered RX-7, a Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG, and a BMW S1000 RR motorcycle (modified). The RX-7 is running a 5.3-liter Chevy small block LS motor with a camshaft upgrade, a Borg Warner S480 turbocharger Read More

Chi-Town Heat – Roll Racing on the Street

September 6th, 2016

If there is one thing that they can do in Chi-town, it’s throw-down on the streets. Naturally, when we got a chance to check out what kind of roll racing Chicago (Mexico) has to offer; we loaded up our wagons and hit the dusty trail. To say the least, we were not disappointed. On hand was a 2016 BMW X5 M (yes, an SUV) powered by a 4.4-liter twin turbocharged V8 with aftermarket bolt-ons and a software upgrade. It’s good for about 800whp. There’s a 2003 Porsche 911 Turbo that has a modified intercooler, exhaust headers, and high performance mufflers. Read More

4-Wide Street Racing – U.S. vs Japanese vs European

February 4th, 2016

Get a load of these four bad street cruisers as they lock horns on a crowded highway. There is a 700hp Ford 5.0 Mustang, a 700hp Subaru Impreza WRX STi, an 800hp Mazda Speed3, and an 800hp Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. This is elite level roll racing as seen from a dash cam and the sights and sounds are unbelievable. The first contest is between the STi and the Mazda and they finish two-heats even Steven. After that the Mustang rolls out against the STi and who knows what happens in that one. The supercharged Mercedes comes on the scene and Read More

Supercar Street Shootout

December 31st, 2015

Here’s a good one for you; two European monsters going head-to-head with a radically modified Viper. First off, we’ve got a pair of Eastern Block bruisers going at it in several roll racing heats. In the first heat, it looks like the Mercedes is going to eat the BMW up but the BMW comes back in the last two runs. Then you’ve got the Mercedes versus the mighty Viper. Let’s face it – there ain’t too many cars that are going to get by the Snake in a roll race. The BMW is of the legendary M3 variety and has Read More

500HP Mercedes-Benz GTS vs 480HP Lexus RCF

October 12th, 2015

If you are wild about street racing (as I am), then you have to see this head-to-head battle between a stodgy European coupe and a luxurious Japanese coupe. Both have significant upgrades under the hood. The GTS is running a twin turbo setup that yields approximately 500hp. The Lexus is also well heeled with the latest bolt-ons and he claims to be running 480hp. This race is run in three segments; a dig race, a 15 mph take-of, and a 40 mph take-off. In the dig race the Lexus actually gets a slight advantage out of the hole but the Read More

Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS vs. Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S

April 7th, 2015

In this quarter-mile contest of traction, acceleration, and speed, two German-built cars vie for bragging rights. The Porsche utilizes a naturally aspirated and horizontally opposed 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine, combined with a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, to handle 430-horsepower and a 0 to 60 time of 3.8-seconds. The Mercedes-Benz opts for a massive twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 503-horsepower and can propel the coupe from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7-seconds. The Porsche takes advantage of its 200-pound weight advantage to gain the hole-shot and it seems poised to whip the Mercedes-Benz in the quarter-mille. Suddenly, near the end Read More

Tesla Model S P85D vs Mercedes E63s AMG 1/4 Mile Drag Racing

January 23rd, 2015

Here is some great video from the recent StreetCarDrags event of the record setting Tesla Model S P85D going heads up against a Mercedes E63s AMG.   The Tesla’s dual motors, instant torque (dyno sheet here),  691HP and AWD give it a decent advantage off the line and continuing on past the 1/8 mile. However as you’ll see in the GoPro view of race 2, the E63s with it’s lighter weight, 5.5L V8 BiTurbo and 577HP starts reeling in the P85D very quickly and at the end of the 1/4 mile the two are just hundredth’s of a second apart with the Tesla winning both Read More

700HP Mercedes E63 AMG S AWD runs in the 10’s with AMS tune and exhaust

July 27th, 2014

AMS Performance  took their 2014 Mercedes E63 AMG S AWD to Great Lakes Dragway for some some passes down the 1/4 mile running an impressive 10.8 @ 129 MPH with 0-60 MPH coming in just 2.8 seconds.   Their E63 was equipped with a tune to increase boost as well as a set of downpipes and a cat-back exhaust system.  With these modifications we estimate increase of around 140 horsepower from the 5.5L V8 BiTurbo which would put this E63 well over 700HP. Coming soon is even more power for the E63 with AMS upgraded turbochargers, intercoolers and intakes which should Read More
