We has some time at The Collection in Coral Gables for an exclusive look at the all new 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale. Enjoy the pictures of the ultimate Ferrari track monster weighing in at 2,800 pounds with 600 plus horsepower.
Here we have one of of the ultimate super car match ups, a Lamborghini Aventador vs the Ferrari F12 racing from a roll down an airstrip in Germany put on by GTBoard. While both are powered by 700+ HP V12 engines, the configuration for each is quite different.
The Aventador priced at around $450k has a 6.5L 700 HP V12 in the rear with all wheel drive and a single clutch ISR transmission while the $691k Ferrari F12 has a 6.3L 730HP V12 mounted up front with rear wheel drive and a dual clutch transmission.
As you can see the video it’s a pretty close race from a roll, with Ferrari F12 having a slight edge simply due to it’s dual clutch transmission which allows it to shift faster than the Aventador and gain a tiny bit each time the Aventador has to switch gears. Of course from a roll it would be a different story as the Aventador’s all wheel drive system would catapult it ahead putting the Ferrari so far behind it would most likely never be able to catch up.
We came across this video of a Ferrari F12 racing heads up against a Lamborghini Aventador at a private event at an airstirp. The Ferrari F12 with it’s front engine V12 pushing out 730HP via rear wheel drive was no match for the Aventador’s mid-engine V12 with 700HP and all wheel drive. Both cars were using launch control but the Aventador simply left the Ferrari for dead.
We have to say, the Aventador is the epitome of a true super exotic in terms of performance and looks while the Ferrari F12 is comparatively quite lame.
Ferrari F12 vs Lamborghini Aventador Drag Racing Video
We had some time this weekend at the StreetCarDrags event at Palm Beach International Raceway to line up a couple of the most competitive super cars out today, the McLaren MP4-12C and the Ferrari 458 Italia from ADV.1. The McLaren MP4-12C comes into the ring weighing in at 3,118 pounds with a 3.8L Twin Turbo V8 pushing out 616 horsepower through a 7 speed dual clutch seamless shift gearbox while the Ferrari is a little heavier at 3,200 pounds and a naturally aspirated 4.5L V8 pushing out 562 horsepower through a 7 speed dual clutch transmission.
Both the McLaren MP4-12C and Ferrari 458 were using their launch control systems which come off the line at 3,000 RPM, but extra low-end torque from the McLaren’s turbocharged engine proves to be an advantage allowing the MP4-12C to bolt off the line and use it’s extra power and less weight to keep on pulling away. The McLaren MP4-12C was running 10.5-10.6 @ 133-134 MPH for these races and Ferrari 458 was running 11.2 – 11.3 @ 124-126 MPH.
We recently got this submission of a brand new Mclaren MP4-12C running heads up vs a Ferrari 458 Sacramento Raceway Park. The McLaren beat the Ferrari pretty badly running an 11.7 @ 130.4 MPH vs the Ferrari 458 running 12.3 @ 121 MPH. This is the first real world run we’ve seen of the new McLaren at the drag strip and while the 130 MPH+ trap speeds are impressive, the off the line performance seems to be lacking with it’s 3.8L V8 Twin Turbo putting down 600+ horsepower to only the rear wheels. Update: Comments coming in advise us this was a husband and wife racing each other.
Take a look at this launch video of the upcoming Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. The all new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta with a 740 horsepower V12 and a top speed of 212+ MPH is the fastest and most powerful Ferrari ever. The video highlights some amazing sights and sounds of this newest super car.
Motor Trend setup an amazing line up of cars for an all out king of the 1/4 mile drag race at an airstrip. The Nissan GT-R with it’s 530HP V6 Twin Turbo and superb all wheel drive launch control beat them all to the finish.
No race is perfect, but we would have liked to have seen Porsche represented by the 911 Turbo S and Chevrolet with the ZR1. While the Nissan GT-R did win, it’s lucky the race didn’t go any further as it would have been passed on by some of the lighter and more powerful cars.
We’ve just received the first real world timeslip and video of a new Ferrari 458 Italia tearing it up at Maryland International Raceway, MD. The new Ferrari super car powered by a normally aspirated V8 pumping out 562HP through a 7 speed dual clutch transmission ran a very impressive 11.22 @ 132.19 MPH. The run was done without using the Ferrari 458′s launch control system so it looks like we could see this Ferrari dipping into the 10′s as some magazines have reported. Take a look at the pictures, timeslip and videos below:
Take a look at this video of a heads up drag race between the brand new McLaren MP4-12C vs Ferrari 458 vs Porsche 911 Turbo. The McLaren get’s the jump but still powers way ahead of the Ferrari and Porsche.
The new McLaren MP4-12C is powered by a Twin Turbo V8 putting out close to 600HP through a 7 speed dual clutch transmission. Weighing in at less than 3,000 pounds the MP4-12C is set to be a benchmark setting super car.
