Toyota vs. Ferrari Drag Race – Fast and Furious Supra Battles SF90 Stradale

October 25th, 2023

Drag racing is on the agenda in this short clip that features fast cars from the past and present. In the right lane is a car that every movie fan will recognize. A replica of the famous Supra from the Fast and Furious film collection, this Toyota is a rolling icon. On the other hand, we have the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. As a hybrid supercar, this Italian dream moves with a degree of suddenness that is mind-numbing.

Of course, the 1994 Toyota MKIV Supra has been modified. At a curb weight of 3,650-pounds, this rear-wheel drive Supra is powered by a turbocharged 2JZ 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine dyno certified at 850whp. Upgrades to the factory setup include a huge single Garrett turbo (replacing the twin turbo setup), high-volume fuel system, premium engine and cylinder head components and a massive air-to-air intercooler. The twin nitrous setup is direct port injected, but the owner swears that it is not in use today. The transmission is a 6-speed sequential.

We have custom wheels and fat slicks out back. The interior is loaded with carbon-fiber elements and it’s all business. Not an exact replica, but tastefully done.

In the opposite lane is the all-wheel drive 2021 Ferrari SF90 Stradale with its modern hybrid powertrain. Between the four-wheel gription and the strategically placed electric motors, this thing leaves the line like a scalded dog. Primary horsepower is gleaned from a 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine mounted in the middle of the car. The remainder comes from a trio of electric motors. All in the SF90 is rated at 1,000hp. The transmission is an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic and the Ferrari tips the scale at approximately 3,800-pounds.

Let’s line these horses up for some 1,000-foot drag racing passes.
