Hybrid Supercar Showdown – Porsche 918 Spyder vs. Ferrari SF90

March 6th, 2024

The good news? There’s going to be a drag race between two of the most powerful hybrid production vehicles on the planet. The bad news? The Porsche 918 Spyder comes in at a price tag of approximately $1.5-million. The Ferrari SF90 is no bargain either with a sticker price of $480,000. Talk about blowing up the budget. Let’s have a closer look at these two expensive cars that will be competing in a standing drag race.

Matt is in the all-wheel drive Porsche 918 Spyder. Powered by a naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8 – combined with a pair of electric motors – the Spyder can produce 887hp and 944 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is distributed to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with a direct drive electric motor delivering the get-up-and-go up front. The Porsche tips the scale at 3,029-pounds.

Representing the Italian contingent is the Ferrari SF90. This exotic beauty features a twin turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 and a trio of electric motors laid out on an all-wheel drive format. The vociferous combination is capable of generating the equivalent of 1,000hp and 590 lb.-ft. of torque. A bit heavier than the Porsche, the SF90 weighs in at 3,461-pounds.

After two failed attempts, we finally get a race out of these two extraordinary cars. It’s a good one!
