Ferrari Half-Mile Drag Races – 296 GTB, SF90 and 812 Superfast

February 5th, 2024

This short clip has more Italians than a Godfather film. Carwow has gathered some serious production iron in the form of Italian supercars. There is a twin turbocharged V6 (with an electric motor), a twin turbo V8 and a naturally aspirated (N/A) V12 on the track and ready for action. Boasting a combined sticker price of more than $1.5-million, these beautiful Italians are set to take on each other and the standing half-mile.

In the left lane is the Ferrari 296 GTB. With its turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine and electric motor, this rear-wheel drive super hybrid can produce 830hp and 546 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The 3,240-pound 296 GTB can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5-seconds and turn the standing quarter-mile in 9.8-seconds with a top speed of 205 mph.

Taking the middle lane is the all-wheel drive Ferrari SF90, with its twin turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, the SF90 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.9-seconds and eclipse the 1320 in 9.4-seconds with a top speed of 199 mph. The SF90 weighs-in at 3,461-pounds and can muster 1,000hp and 590 lb.-ft. of torque. Shifting duties are left to an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. If I were a betting man, this would my favorite in the quarter-mile drag race.

Finally, the menacing Ferrari 812 Superfast utilizes a ferocious 6.5-liter N/A V12 engine to conjure up 800hp and 530 lb.-ft. of torque. Utilizing a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the 812 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8-seconds and blow through the standing quarter-mile in 10.5-seconds. At a curb weight of 4,000-pounds, the Superfast has a top speed of 211 mph.

Only one thing left to do – let’s line these mad Italians up and let them race.
