Supercharged Pontiac Trans Am GTA vs. Ferrari 488 Pista – Drag Race

May 27th, 2021

What we have here is a drag race between a highly modified 1988 Pontiac Trans AM GTA and a nearly stock Ferrari 488 Pista.

The “Italian Stallion” tips the scale at 3,054-pounds and it can produce 730hp and 567 lb.-ft. of torque. It is a rear-wheel drive roadster powered by a twin turbo 3.9-liter V8 that is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in a Stock Ferrari 488 Pista can be accomplished in only 2.7-seconds and it has a top speed of 211 mph (electronically controlled).

The “Poncho” has been upgraded with a supercharged LS3 V8 engine that can churn out 610hp. It has a billet 6-speed sequentially shifted transmission. This capable Trans Am weighs in at 3,400-pounds. Both cars are rear-wheel drive (only).

In the first of three passes from a standstill to 1,000-feet, the T/A cheats and leaves early. Of course, he finishes last because cheaters never win.

Looks like the Ferrari is going to be a little too much for the Pontiac. Check out the remaining passes. Great cars and fun people.
