Twin Turbo Viper – King of the Streets?

June 25th, 2015

Twin Turbo Viper King of the StreetsCongratulations to Andy N. and the gang at D3 Performance Engineering for a win in the Rear-Wheel Drive Class at the 2015 Texas Invitational Automotive Airfield Exhibition. Andy also campaigned his twin turbocharged Viper successfully in the King of the Streets Class, defeating a couple of turbocharged Underground Lamborghinis and making it to the finals before falling to the AMS Performance Nissan GT-R.

Andy’s Dodge Viper is powered by a 540-cubic-inch Gentry Performance engine with twin 76-millimeter turbochargers slamming air down its gullet. With the boost turned down to 25 psi, horsepower is estimated at 1,750, with a ceiling of 2,000 when boost is maxed out. As you can see in the video, this car comes out of the hole hard, barking the back tires at 60 mph. Andy’s team worked hard to keep the big engine cool so that it could continue to log those 200 mph speeds, run after run.
