9,000 RPM Rotary Powered Mazda Belches Flames

9,000 RPM Rotary Powered Mazda Belches FlamesIt seems that every time you see a Mazda RX7 racing on the streets these days, there is a Chevrolet LS engine under the hood. Despite the rugged reliability of the 1.3-liter rotary power plant, most racers opt for the added cubic inches of a V8. Honestly, I would be tempted to do the same. So, it is sort of refreshing (and rare) when you run across an RX7 that sports the original (albeit radically modified) rotary engine.

This little import features a ball bearing T6 turbocharger (turned way down). It is making 700hp and it is yet to be tuned. You will want to check out this video as the Mazda “runs amuck” on the streets, belching flames and drawing attention with its super high RPM burnouts. Just wait until it is tuned.

NOTE: We neither condone nor encourage racing on public streets.
