Street Rolls – McLaren 570S vs. 2019 Corvette ZR1

April 25th, 2018

As the most capable Corvette to ever roll off the assembly line, the 2019 version of the ZR1 opens a door (of sorts) for performance enthusiasts. Finally, we can dare to dream of a day when a Chevrolet can compete with the much lauded McLaren 570S. That day is here my friend!

You may recognize the kid as the driver of the extraordinary automobile that has been tearing up the Cecil County Dragway and documenting the damage. Today, he will put his ‘Vette up against a 570S in multiple street hits. These will be roll races from various speeds with alternating competitors taking the initial hit.

The McLaren is a British sports car powered by a 562hp, all-aluminum, 3.8-liter, twin-turbo, mid-mounted, V8 engine. It is a rear-wheel drive car that is built around a carbon-fiber tub to keep the weight down (3,340-pounds). It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 3-seconds and has a top speed (electronically controlled) of 204 mph. Among speed aficionados, it is considered state-of-the-art.

The eagerly awaited 2019 Corvette ZR1 is a beast. It is outfitted with a supercharged, 6.2-liter, V8 engine capable of producing 755hp and 715 lb.-ft. of torque. It tips the scale at 3,750-pounds and can blast from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9-seconds.

There are the specs but which car will prove superior when the rubber hits the road? You’ll have to check out the video to find out the answer to that one.
