Corvette King – 2010 ZR1 vs 2019 ZR1

April 5th, 2018

Greetings drag racing fans and welcome to the Cecil County Dragway for an epic battle between two variants of the big, bad ZR1 ‘Vette. We are all looking forward to seeing what these bad bowties can do but the staging lanes are packed with awesome cars of virtually every variety.

There is a bad looking vintage Mopar, a Porsche, numerous Mustangs (of all types), and even a McLaren. All that is in addition to the feature race between these two Chevys.

The star of the show is the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. As far as we can tell, this is the maiden voyage for the newest ZR1 on a quarter-mile dragstrip. It is factory stock (tires included) with a manual transmission and it dyno tested at 668whp. The first pass EVER was an 11.55-second run at 129.79 mph.

In a supporting role, we have the 2010 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. It has been outfitted with RPM cylinder heads and an RPM camshaft upgrade. It is also equipped with nitrous but the go-go juice is not being utilized today. Power is estimated at 880whp with the current tune. In his warm up pass, the ‘10 goes 10.14-seconds @ 145 mph (despite missing second-gear).

So, when they finally get these two ground-pounders lined up, the modified 2010 (10.16-seconds @ 148.14 mph) model is superior. No surprise here. The 2019 (11.52-seconds @ 123.72 mph) needs tires and some bolt-on goodies. In its current format, this 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is an excellent jumping-off point.
