2006 Z06 Vette Makes 7-Second 1/4-Mile Pass

tanner zo6 rearRedline Motorsports, Pompano Beach, Florida, is turning out some pretty incredible hot rods. One of the best is this 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 owned by Howard Tanner. Although track conditions were not ideal on this particular evening, Tanner managed to lay down a 7.98-second 1/4-mile pass at 179.35 mph on only 10-pounds of boost.

This ‘Vette is packing a 432-cubic inch iron block Redline Motorsports race engine with a forged steel crankshaft, connecting rods, and forged aluminum pistons. A pair of Precision 62/66 billet wheel ball bearing turbochargers provide the forced air induction and help the engine to produce in excess of 1,500-horsepower. To handle the potent engine, and make provisions for improvements in the future, Tanner contacted master transmission builder Rodney Massingal, owner of RPM Transmissions in Anderson, Indiana, after he opted to remove the factory T56 for a 2-speed Powerglide transmission and a 9-inch rear differential. This combination should be good for close to 3,000-horsepower. Except for some fantastic looking Sparco Racing Seats and six-point harnesses, the interior remains stock in this Z06 and the air conditioning is still cold. A complete custom coil-over suspension system with AFCO Big Gun shocks helps to smooth out the bumps.
