TT 1964 Dodge Polara Rat Rod

November 29th, 2017

This video takes us (step-by-step) through the drastic rebuild of a rusted out 1964 Dodge Polara. Proving that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, the crew at Roadster Shop (Mundelein, IL) transformed this eyesore into a radical racing machine. Check it out.

This car belongs to Jesse James – custom motorcycle magnate from Huntington Beach, CA – and not the legendary outlaw or the tight end for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jesse is widely known for building custom bikes, cars, knives, and almost anything else that can be crafted with a little skill and a lot of elbow grease. Whether you love him or hate him; most people will admit that he helped to bring custom motorcycle building out of the shadows and into the mainstream.

Jesse and the Roadster Shop joined forces with Honeywell Garrett to produce a twin turbocharged beast that is capable of taming street or strip.

It all begins with a 3D scan using Faro Technologies equipment. This allowed Roadster Shop to build a custom (Fast Track) chassis that is lighter and stronger than the factory unit. A Tremec transmission, Strange Engineering rear differential, Baer brake system, and Forgeline wheels with Nitto 505R rubber help get the big Mopar up to speed and bring it safely to a halt.

Under the hood, a Wegner Motorsports-built 426 cubic-inch Hemi engine and a pair of Honeywell Garrett GTX3582R turbochargers are making plenty of horsepower. Check out the custom crafted intake manifold and titanium turbo/exhaust manifold.

This is a great video and an even better car.
