7-Second Lexus IS300 – 1300HP Turbo 2JZ

April 9th, 2021

We are back to TX2K21 for this one. Tonight, we meet Murda 2J and he brings us up to speed on his incredible Lexus (Toyota) IS300. Even with a stock (not sleeved) engine block, this compact sedan can claim the title for first IS300 to ever post a 7-second quarter-mile (7.8-seconds). The motor is a stock 2JZGE, which is one of the inline 6-cylinder bottom-ends originally used by Lexus. Although the block is essentially stock, the pistons and connecting rods have been replaced with performance parts and hardware. The cylinder head has been upgraded to a 2JZGTE model head. Welcome fellow street racers to Mexico for a night of elite level roll racing on the interstate. On hand are some of the most sophisticated (FAST!) street racing machines on the planet. Vehicles from all of the “Big 3” domestic automakers have turned-out, as well as a sprinkling of imports. 8-Second LS Swapped Lexus

March 2nd, 2018

Competing in the True Street Class, this Lexus IS 300 takes the term Performance Compact Sedan in a whole new direction. Noticeably absent is the factory 6-cylinder engine. A big old (5.3-liter) Chevrolet LS V8 (all-aluminum) engine has taken its place. Also present is a massive Garrett (88-millimeter) turbocharger with minimal piping and accessories. Shifting duties are handled via a powerglide transmission. The crew from Dedicated Motorsports (Round Rock, Texas) has worked tirelessly to get this crazy creation to hook up and blast through the trap in a semi-straight line. They have showed up at Street Car Takeover Oklahoma with Read More

Crazy Twin Turbo LS Powered Lexus IS300

November 10th, 2016

Like most drag racing fans, the prospect of a big engine in a really small and lightweight car is intriguing to me. It all began for me way back when with a built (four-bolt mains of course) small block Chevy engine in a Chevrolet Vega, nicknamed “Cherry Bomb” because it exploded through the 1320. Unfortunately, those Vegas are getting pretty difficult to find at a reasonable price. The good news is that lightweight import shells are out there and they’re a dime a dozen. If you have some mechanical aptitude and a few fabrication (cutting and welding) skills, you can Read More

Street Racing Southern Style

September 29th, 2015

Come experience some southern hospitality in the A-T-L. Hot nights are in store and some even hotter street racing action. When the temperatures rise these southern boys (and girls) love to take to the streets in their souped up chariots and ice the competition. You have to see this collection of highly modified top-tier sports cars as they do battle for bragging rights down in Georgia. Roll racing rules apply – with 60 mph starts. First, there is a 650hp Porsche 911 going against a 650hp Nissan Gt-R. This is a closely contested race, then the Porsche tangles with a Read More
