7-Second Lexus IS300 – 1300HP Turbo 2JZ

April 9th, 2021

We are back to TX2K21 for this one. Tonight, we meet Murda 2J and he brings us up to speed on his incredible Lexus (Toyota) IS300. Even with a stock (not sleeved) engine block, this compact sedan can claim the title for first IS300 to ever post a 7-second quarter-mile (7.8-seconds).

The motor is a stock 2JZGE, which is one of the inline 6-cylinder bottom-ends originally used by Lexus. Although the block is essentially stock, the pistons and connecting rods have been replaced with performance parts and hardware. The cylinder head has been upgraded to a 2JZGTE model head. The 2JZGTE engine was a twin turbo mill sold in Japan, as well as North America and Europe. Forced air induction duties are handled via a big Precision 8385 turbocharger and all that entails.

Despite torque converter (transmission) problems, Murda plans to “just send it” in an all-out effort to proceed to the next round. This guy has a heart as big as all outdoors and a competitive spirit that is almost intoxicating. Question is: will the car hold out until the final pass?
