650HP BMW M5 – Street Rolls

July 12th, 2017

I just love a luxury car that can pull its weight in a street race. At the risk of revealing my advanced age, I’ll tell you that the luxury street racer bug first bit me when I built a huge 1978 Cadillac Coupe de Ville and implanted a nitrous injected big block Chevy running gear. It was fun but also heavy. This 2014 BMW M5 is fun but it certainly ain’t that heavy. The Bavarian Motor Works are globally recognized as leaders in the niche of elegant sports cars. The “M” in M5 refers to the BMW Motorsports division which Read More

NRE Street Sleeper – 1000HP Camaro

June 27th, 2017

Nelson Racing Engines (NRE) has made it their business to be on the cutting edge in the production of turbocharged performance. As it turns out – they make a pretty good video, too. Being sort of a sneaky, bottom-feeding, street racer myself, there is nothing that I appreciate more than a seriously modified street sleeper. I am speaking of a vehicle that is capable of gapping almost anything on the street but you can’t differentiate it from stock without some inside information. A top-shelf street sleeper will appear stock even when the hood is open. This 1,000hp 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Read More

Sunshine State Street Showdown

May 25th, 2017

Hello drag racing fans and welcome to sunny North Florida (Mexico) for the Street Mafia Cash Days. This clip features some of the most capable cars in the Sunshine State in some very competitive street (dig) racing action. To give us all a better understanding of just how competitive these digs are, there are cameras on both ends of the track. The rules are simple;; don’t jump the light and don’t cross the center line. Other than that it’s run-what-ya-brung, single elimination dig racing with a cash prize going to the top two finishers. Let’s take a gander! Round 1 Read More

Street Racing Cowboy Style

April 27th, 2017

This well produced clip documents a night of competitive dig racing on the streets of Dallas/Fort Worth (Mexico, of course). It’s called Mini Cash Days and the buy-in is $100 per car with a 10-car field. It’s winner take all (actually 80-percent) and the action is single elimination with the losers in each round going back on the trailer. Lots of great looking street racers showed up for this night of street racing. It’s mostly Chevys and Fords but there is a particularly impressive LSX swapped Datsun 300Z and a couple of Cadillacs – you gotta see this one. When Read More

Street Racing Compilation – Roll and Dig

February 8th, 2017

If you like racing on the streets (of Mexico); you will love this video! I almost laughed when I saw a turbocharged Volkswagen Corrado at the outset of this production – then the VW whipped a couple of Corvettes and a Camaro. The Sketchy Vert WS6 Trans Am was a little more than he bargained for but most street racers find that to be the case, All in all, this was not a bad night of roll racing for a four-banger VW. From there, it’s on to some dig racing. There are some pretty average rides to begin the night Read More

Cali Street Digs – Compton Clash

January 11th, 2017

Greetings street racing fans and welcome to one of the most historic street racing locations on the planet. The small community of Compton, (Mexico) is known worldwide for its unique cultural dynamic. It has for decades been the inspiration for motion pictures and music but there is one strip of blacktop that is easily recognizable to street racers. This video comes to us from this exact site. I especially enjoyed the way the video producer referred to the posturing and trash talking that takes place before a street race as “race negotiations.” In the hood or out – a $1,600 Read More

2016 North Carolina Cash Days

December 21st, 2016

This video features at least two things that I hold near and dear: street racing and the beautiful state of North Carolina. The Tar Heel State has always held a special place in my heart, with its densely wooded mountains in the west and stunning beaches in the east, but experiencing the Tail of the Dragon (on my modified Harley Davidson Road King bagger) took it to a whole different level. Between that, some wonderful white whiskey (for medicinal purposes and in moderation), and some of the friendliest folks on earth, I can’t help but go back time and time Read More

Twin Turbo 7-Liter Camaro Wins 2016 Hot Rod Drag Week

September 28th, 2016

Check out this clip of Clark Rosenstengel and his GenV Camaro. He lays down a 7.80 1/4-mile pass at 170 mph in a car that still has factory air conditioning. If that isn’t enough to prove this is a true street machine, it is also riding on radial tires (Mickey Thompsons). One might conclude that, with a Steve Morris built 427 cubic-inch LSX (that means Chevrolet) engine and a pair of sparkling stainless-steel Bullseye 80-millimeter turbochargers, this grueling week long event (Hot Rod Drag Week) would be a cake walk. Not so much; you see, Clark and the gang had Read More

Import Street Shootout – Roll and Dig

September 14th, 2016

The increasing availability of turbochargers to the sport of street racing has forever changed the face of what is arguably the most popular motorized sport in America. Despite competitors being forced to take their high performance dramas south of the border (for legal reasons), street racers continue to blow their top when it comes to modifying their machines for maximum performance and optimum horsepower. This clip runs the gambit from high-dollar exotic sports cars to good old domestic muscle. It opens up with a majestic Porsche 911 Turbo S, with an upgraded turbocharger, a high performance intake manifold, high performance Read More

Operation Octane – Big Tire – No Prep Eighth-Mile

August 31st, 2016

This is 1/8-mile No Prep drag racing from the pits of Kansas Speedway. We do the same thing every Friday night in Atlanta at Atlanta Motor Speedway (but it’s called Friday Night Drags) and it’s a ton of fun for the whole family. Nevertheless, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a field like this turn up to drag race across the pits of a circle track. This is an awesome (heavy on Chevy) field of Big Tire competitors. As expected, the track is horrendous. Cars that would normally get down a prepped track with no problems, have a terrible Read More
