This video features at least two things that I hold near and dear: street racing and the beautiful state of North Carolina. The Tar Heel State has always held a special place in my heart, with its densely wooded mountains in the west and stunning beaches in the east, but experiencing the Tail of the Dragon (on my modified Harley Davidson Road King bagger) took it to a whole different level. Between that, some wonderful white whiskey (for medicinal purposes and in moderation), and some of the friendliest folks on earth, I can’t help but go back time and time again.

Enough reminiscing – this is North Carolina Cash Days and fourteen of the fastest street racers in the southeast have come to town to claim bragging rights and win a $2800 cash prize. The dig racing action is coming at us from a privately owned stretch of blacktop that seems ideally suited for this event. As is the case in any street racing contest, traction is at a premium and some of the competitors find getting from point A to point B a real challenge. It’s all about finding that balance between horsepower and traction for these guys and they have the skills to get it done.
