Street Racing: NOS/Supercharged Camaro ZL1 vs. Viper T/A

May 29th, 2015

ZL1 EngineCheck out this contest of speed that begins as a 60 mph rolling race and morphs into a Snake show. With advertised horsepower ratings being a little “flexible” where street racers are concerned, it should come as no surprise when a 632HP car overcomes a 750HP car on an apparently deserted stretch of highway. That is the case in this video from That Racing Channel. The Camaro appears to gain the early edge but the Viper is having none of it; coming back to take the victory in the end. We neither condone or encourage racing on public streets.

The 2014 Dodge Viper T/A is listed at 632HP right “out-of-the-box” but this particular car has been performance tuned and there have been some modifications to the exhaust, the intake, and the manual transmission. The Camaro (in intimidating ZL1 trim) has also been enhanced. A shot of nitrous-oxide has been incorporated into the mix that includes a 6.2-liter V8 engine with a 1.9-liter supercharger on top. It has also been tuned and this bad Bowtie is running an automatic transmission. It would appear (according to the video footage) that some degree of weight reduction has also been employed.
