Mustang GT500 Kenne Bell vs. GT-R and McLaren – Street Hits

February 19th, 2019

Driving your friend’s GT500 on the streets of Mexico is the absolute best time to encounter a couple of brass ring supercars out trolling for a victim.

Even in the darkest of night, the Ford seems outmatched by these top tier sports cars. This is easily seen by all on hand. What is unforeseen is the fact that this (daily driven) Shelby GT500 Mustang has been favorably modified for just such a scenario as this. Take a look.

The stock engine and transmission are easy prey for the exotics but a Kenne Bell 2.8-liter blower changes the odds. Power was charted at 792hp, 3-years ago when the build was fresh – that’s pretty amazing – over 100-races later and it’s still together. Full bolt-ons, performance exhaust, and a set of 275/60R15 drag radials (out back) on Weld Racing wheels, help to level the racing field. Think the Mustang can hold a candle to the likes of a modified GT-R and a McLaren?

First up is the Nissan. This GT-R has upgraded turbochargers and it is running E85 fuel. This is a close roll race with Godzilla coming out of the hole strong. The Mustang quickly pulls him in and it ends with the GT500 holding on until the end.

The McLaren has unspecified bolt-ons. I ain’t gonna lie; this is an ugly race with the GT500 FTW.
