2021 Mustang GT Gets a Whipple Supercharger Kit

February 26th, 2024

Tonight, we take a deep dive into a Brenspeed Mustang GT build that nets an incredible result. Oh yeah, when all the bolts are tightened and all the fluids are topped-off, this pony car will be strapped to the dyno. There, we will get to see a no-frills representation of horsepower and torque to the rear wheels. Take a look.

This 2021 Ford Mustang GT came with a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. In stock condition, the Mustang could make 460hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque (at the crankshaft). While that is not a slow car, it ain’t going to win a lot of races on the street or on the strip. Not these days.

So, this Mustang GT got dropped off at Brenspeed for a little TLC. Here’s a brief (not exhaustive) rundown of modifications. The key component was a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. Supporting mods included an oversize throttle body, oversize fuel injectors and a high-volume fuel pump. The Whipple also got pulley upgrades. The oil pump gears were swapped out for billet cogs and the cooling system was improved with a three-row radiator and a massive intercooler. The exhaust was upgraded with a set of longtube headers.

After that, it’s off to the dyno room where this manic Mustang threw out some big numbers. How about 789whp and 604 lb.-ft. of torque at the rear wheels? That’s impressive power from a stock motor with a bunch of bolt-ons. Can’t wait to get it on the street.
