Twin Turbo Audi R8 vs. Whipple Mustang – 60-160 MPH Street Hits
November 11th, 2023It’s 3:00 am and that is prime time for street racing (in Mexico). These competitors are fueled-up, tuned-up and ready to rumble as they roll onto the interstate. Hang on to your hats my fellow gearheads, this one is going to be a hoot.
In the left lane is the twin turbo Audi R8. In stock trim the Audi R8 is an all-wheel drive street monster with a mid-mounted and naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine. AMS Performance builds on this capable foundation. They begin with a twin turbo system and engine fortification, transmission and suspension upgrades, performance exhaust and custom MAPS. This Audi is tuned to burn 93-octane pump gas for the evening. This is the lowest powered setting for this AMS platform.
Rolling in the right lane is the Ford Mustang GT. The front-engine, rear-wheel drive Mustang has a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 from the factory. Running a stock motor, this Mustang has been upgraded with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger (intercooled). The 10-speed automatic transmission has been built to handle the added power from the Whipple. The Mustang is prepared by Infinite Performance.
You can feel the excitement as the two cars pull onto the interstate in the cool night air. Engines rev, rubber squeals and exhaust fumes permeate the air in these fleeting moments of street racing bliss. Enjoy the show.
