2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo – Track Test

January 11th, 2020

Is the 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo the most capable Ferrari ever? The car’s specifications would certainly bear that out but what will shake out on the open road? From the standpoint of an enthusiast, there’s a lot to love about this mid-engine Italian beauty. For one thing, you can exercise as much (or as little) control over this Ferrari as you’d like. At the flip of a switch, traction and braking can be affected to meet virtually any driving condition. Hop in and let’s go for a ride.

Under the bonnet? Oh, there’s just a little 3.9-liter V8 engine. It is all-aluminum and topped with a pair of turbochargers (and twin intercoolers). Power is rated at 720hp. The drivetrain is rear-wheel drive and it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9-seconds. Top speed is 211 mph (electronically controlled) and it weighs 2932-pounds. Sound good? Buckle up.

Behind the steering wheel, it doesn’t take long to realize that the F8 is lighter, more aerodynamic and more powerful than any Ferrari that I have ever driven. It is also very well behaved under gentle acceleration. Wonder what happens when I put the pedal to the metal…
