Vicious Mustang – 1003WHP Road Rocket

November 2nd, 2023

Now, this thing is fast! How many times have you heard that, right? Well, this time it’s true. How about 1,003whp and 885 lbs.-ft. of torque? Does that blow your skirt up? Here’s Shawn to give us a long, hard look at this compound boosted pro touring street menace.

If the first glance seems a bit awkward, it could be the custom sheet metal over a tube chassis. It’s impossible to overlook the custom crafted carbon-fiber deck lid and hood. Very little of the original 1965 Mustang remains in this build. This is a full-blown race car. Enough of the shiny side.

Underneath, we have an Art Morrison subframe with Corvette (C7) steering and suspension up front. A Morrison four-link setup with a Dana Suretrac independent differential make up the rear. RideTech triple adjustable shocks are on all four corners. The brakes are Brembo carbon-ceramic with 6-piston calipers and vented rotors. Those are Forgeline 19-inch wheels wrapped in Kumho rubber.

Under the hood is the real treasure. There’s an Aluminator Coyote motor built to the gills. Premium internal bottom end components include a Manley rotating assembly and Darton sleeves. The valvetrain and camshafts are from the Comp Voodoo line and the cylinder heads are ported units in the GT350 design. Perched atop the Coyote is a Magnusson 1.8-liter supercharger setup to make 16 psi of boost. Hidden inside each front fender is a Precision 68-millimeter ball-bearing turbocharger. The turbo setup uses a custom air-to-air intercooler while the supercharger utilizes a separate air-to-water intercooler. With all that extra air, we will need some extra fuel. That’s delivered via an Aeromotive brushless fuel pump and oversize injectors. At only 5.1-liters, this engine revs to 9,100 RPM. The transmission is an EMCO sequential 6-speed – and it’s air shifted with industrial strength paddle shifters.

I cannot wait for the test drive.
