Twilight Street Hits – Camaro SS vs. Shelby Mustang GT350

January 22nd, 2021

In a battle that dates back to a time when both these models were still in the concept stages, two of the best from Chevy and Ford square off in this contest of speed and acceleration on the streets of Old Mexico. This clip treats the viewer to a rolling duel between a Gen VI Camaro SS and a Gen VI Ford Mustang GT350.

As the track version of the Chevrolet Camaro lineup, the Camaro SS is arguably the most capable of the bunch. Under the hood is a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter all-aluminum V8 engine. From the factory, the Camaro SS can churn out 455hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque. The Camaro SS package also nets track-ready equipment like adaptive dampers, upgraded Brembo front brakes, an electronic limited-slip rear end and wider (performance) tires, as well as distinctive interior and exterior enhancements. The SS Package rivals the LT1 Package as King of the Camaros. The Camaro SS in the video has been upgraded with a performance tune (E85), exhaust headers and a cold air intake.

As the little brother of the Shelby Mustang GT500, the Mustang GT350 mirrors the Camaro SS in many ways. Equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 engine (codename Voodoo), the GT350 is capable of producing 526hp and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. The Mustang featured in this video has been performance tuned to burn E85 fuel.

This should be a good, close contest.
