Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 vs. Boosted Ford Mustangs – Street Hits

August 22nd, 2020

Greetings drag racing fans and street racing aficionados from across the hemisphere. Please join us as we allow ourselves to be entertained by this street racing battle (from Mexico) featuring a matchup as old as muscle cars themselves. Camaro versus Mustang or Ford versus Chevy; however you choose to say it, these modern-day muscle cars are born into a feud fueled by gasoline.

The Chevy Camaro ZL1 is the top of the heap for the Camaro lineup (except maybe the Camaro SS – it’s debatable). Under the hood of the Camaro ZL1 is a supercharged (Lingenfelter) 6.2-liter V8 engine that can make 650hp in stock trim. The Camaro in this video has been modified with aftermarket bolt-ons (cold air intake, exhaust headers, tuner, etc.) that bump the maximum output up to 800hp at the rear wheels. The transmission in the Camaro is a 10-speed automatic.

The first of the Mustang entries (red) is a 5.0. As one might expect, this version of the Mustang is equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine that churns out 460hp. This particular pony car has been upgraded with a Vortech V3 supercharger that gives it a horsepower bump to make it exceed 800whp.

The orange Ford Mustang is also a 5.0, but this one is outfitted with a ProCharger P1X kit that also gets it over the 800whp threshold. The orange Mustang also has a 10-speed automatic transmission.

This Camaro is all set to whoop up on some Ford tail. Question is: Does the Chevy have the goods to get the job done? Let’s watch and see.
