Old Schol Blown Chevelle vs New School Trans Am WS6Now this is what street racing is supposed to sound like! Check out this video as it depicts two high-performance rear-wheel drive GM products locked in a head to head battle on a lonely stretch of two lane blacktop. While these two cars share many similarities, at their core they are vastly different. The Pontiac gets the hole shot, and the victory, gradually pulling away from the effervescence of the heavier Chevrolet’s headlamps.

The ’70 Chevelle is equipped with a supercharged vintage 7.0-liter big block V8 and the Trans Am utilizes a late model 6.2-liter turbocharged V8. Despite the two different strategies, maximum power output is strangely similar. The Chevy loses this battle in the traction sector. The Poncho has bigger and better tires and the WS6 package includes a positive traction rear differential with a locking carrier. Confucius says, “He who gets the hookup wins the prize.”
