McLaren MP4-12c vs Ford GT 1 mile race

March 2nd, 2013

McLaren-MP4-12c-vs-Ford-GTHere is a great video of a 2012 McLaren MP4-12c running heads up against a Ford GT with a pulley, tune and throttle body upgrade in a 1 mile rolling start race.   The McLaren is bone stock and hasn’t had the 2013 factory upgrade done yet that adds another 30-40 horsepower.  We’ve had similar Ford GTs on the dyno putting down 635 horsepower to the rear wheels and we just reported on a non-updated McLaren putting down 517 horsepower to the rear wheels.

The power to weight ratio is pretty close between the two with the McLaren at 5.81 lbs per horsepower and the Ford GT at 5.35 lbs per horsepower.  Can the 7 speed dual clutch SSG transmission in the McLaren make up the difference?  Take a look and see…
