Drag Race – 900HP Mustang Shelby GT500 vs. 900HP Challenger Hellcat

September 2nd, 2020

These cats are taking it to the track at Pocono Raceway in the Pennsylvania mountains. Known as the Tricky Triangle, Pocono Raceway was made famous as part of the NASCAR and Indy Car circuits. Today, these racers are taking their street cars onto the Tricky Triangle for some roll racing on the banked corners.

A modified Ford Mustang GT500 is taking on a similarly modified Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in a grudge race of sorts.

The GT500 engine is a 5.2-liter that has been upgraded by L&M Engine. The supercharger has been swapped with a 2.9-liter Whipple unit and bolt-ons are plentiful. This snake is tuned, and it is running a great looking set of forged American Racing wheels. No race gas today – he’s on pump gas only. Probably regret that later. Loaded with the driver, the GT500 weighs less than 4,000-pounds.

With the driver onboard, the Hellcat weighs in at more than 5,000-pounds. Good news is that it has a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine under the hood. Similar to the GT500, the Hellcat has undergone radical modification to increase performance. Let’s see what happens when these two hook up on the Tricky Triangle.

After that, the Hellcat is on to a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 for some bonus footage. Enjoy.
