2017 Ford GT – Too Much Car for the Street?

May 26th, 2017

How absurd – too much car for the street? What kind of a question is that?

The new 2017 Ford GT may be a bit too hot to handle for drivers who are only interested in getting from point A to point B but for a red-blooded performance enthusiast, there is no such thing as too much car.

Let’s go to the riding review for the full story:

In a package that is unabashedly billed as a street legal LeMans (winner) race car, the mid-engine, rear-wheel drive monster was only 3-years from sketch pad to track, making it a truly amazing car in every right.

At the heart of the GT is a carbon-fiber cockpit that is propelled by a 3.5-liter twin turbocharged V6 engine. This is exactly the same engine used in the LeMans race car. A 7-speed gearbox is integrated into the in-board rear suspension and it has a top speed (electronically controlled) of 216 mph. It is capable of blasting from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.8-seconds in stock trim.

One can’t help but notice that this car looks truly stunning. It’s wide, athletic stance, combined with the deeply etched lines and functional air vents make it look as though it is going a hundred-miles-per-hour, even when sitting still. The color choices only add to this effect.

The professional driver puts the GT through her paces on the track during this video. Ride along and be dazzled by this true American Beauty.
