Wild Wild West – Arizona Cash Days

February 26th, 2018

This one has it all! Naturally aspirated, turbocharged, twin turbocharged, supercharged, and nitrous; there are imports and domestics. I have even heard rumors about a ‘76 Monza with a Pinto engine and a Procharger in the trunk (if you believe that, these guys have some oceanfront property to sell you – it’s very near the race site),

This is Arizona Cash Days. It’s single elimination, ⅛-mile dig racing from the desert (of Mexico). The rules are simple: there’s a $150 buy in (16-cars) and the winner takes all the money. If you jump the light, cross the center stripe in front of your opponent, or fail to cross the finish line before your opponent; you are finished for the evening. Easy peasy – just go straight and win, baby!

As these cars begin to show up on this secluded stretch of desert highway, you can’t help but notice that there are many elite level competitors on hand. Cooler than normal temperatures mean that traction is at a premium and these cars are all over the road. It’s all about finding a perfect balance between producing maximum horsepower and gaining optimum grip. There are bound to be brokenhearted losers and surprised winners on this night of street racing in the chilly desert. You definitely don’t want to miss it.
