Country Style Cash Days

June 7th, 2017

Where I come from, the smell of burning rubber goes hand-in-hand with tanned legs in Daisy Dukes – that’s one reason that I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else on earth. I thank God for places such as this!

This clip comes to us from a narrow strip of country road in farm country. These rural racers entertain all comers, during King of the Asphalt IV, and give them what-for between the corn rows. The pavement is thin but the rules are the same; don’t jump the start, don’t cross the center stripe, and the winner of each race advances to the next round. The loser? Well, the loser can go ahead and get back on the trailer.

The first race of round one features a Chevy S10 pickup and a 70s Plymouth Duster, with the S10 taking the victory and moving on to the second round.

Race two is between a pair of big block Chevys; a small tire Malibu and a Camaro. The Camaro crosses the center line and is disqualified.

Round two opens with the S10 going against a FoxBody Mustang. The S10 crosses the center line and is DQ’ed with some degree of protest. Check it out and see what you think.

That brings us to the final and the Mustang versus the Malibu. The Chevy wins it and is crowned King of the Asphalt IV.

In case anybody is wondering what kind of light the ‘skeered’ starter is using; it’s a coon hunting lamp (sold by NiteLite). Great idea – poor form!
