Shelby GT500 vs. Porsche GT3 RS – Chuckwalla Valley Raceway

January 16th, 2020

The test of speed documented on this video is one of competition side-by-side racing from a cockpit angle. The venue is Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in Desert Center, California and the driver is Randy Probst. Climb in, buckle up and hold on as Randy puts both these machines through their paces.

The first car is a 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The latest GT500 is well equipped with a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 capable of producing 760hp. It is a rear-wheel drive car and its power far out-performs its traction. As the most powerful mustang ever produced, the 2020 Shelby GT500 utilizes a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5-seconds. Sticker price for a comfortably equipped GT500 is approximately $75k.

In the other lane is the German counterpart. The 2019 Porsche GT3 RS is a rear-engine rear-wheel drive automobile which uses a slightly smaller engine. It is a 244 cubic-inch unit (aluminum block and cylinder heads) with direct fuel injection. It can churn out 520hp through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.5-seconds. Price (as shown) is about $210k.

Let’s see which of them have what it takes on the track.
