Rolling Coal – 6-Second Diesel Ram Pickup

January 21st, 2021

It’s a drag racing life for Danny Diesel. This racer sold all that he owned and invested in a diesel race truck with an enclosed trailer. Now, he’s living the life he loves on the road in a new racing venue every weekend. The pain of regret is worse than the pain of sacrifice – and there is no regret for Diesel Danny. This guy is living the life of which he has always dreamed.

For Danny, this whole thing began with a 1995 Dodge 1500 2WD long bed pickup. The frame was shortened (and the bed was replaced) before a 5.9-liter diesel mill was installed. The compound turbocharger setup is by Forced Induction and includes an 88-millimeter turbo (Borg Warner) over a 68-millimeter turbo. Utilizing oversize injectors and high-volume fuel pumps, Diesel Danny is making around 1,000hp and 2,100 lb.-ft. of torque. Add a shot of nitrous and maximum output jumps up to 1,300hp. The rear end is a stock Dana 70.

After qualifying with a 6.94 @ 104.55 mph (eighth-mile), Diesel Danny was ready to get after the competition. With a mighty (thick) cloud of diesel smoke and a hearty hi-ho something, Danny waded into the deep end and began to kick some cans all the way to the trailer. Put on your coal goggles and check this one out.
