worlds Fastest Diesel Pickup 172MPH DuramaxThis video lets you ride along (and watch) with Owen Powell (driver and chief technician) and the crew at Duramaxtuner as they set a new record for diesel trucks in the Texas Mile. After experiencing some issues with torque converter lockup, the crew gets this stock looking pickup back on track and sets the record on the first day of testing. Day two Owen and the guys continue to fight the rigors associated with running a vehicle at full-throttle for a solid mile, but they manage to pull out a new record pass of 172.2 mph. Great job guys!

Here are just a few of the modifications necessary to set a new record: To keep the mighty Duramax diesel engine operating in its optimum “power band” of 3,000 to 3,500 RPMs, a 3.42:1 rear gear upgrade (up from a 3.73:1) was performed and the transmission was changed from a 5-speed to a 6-speed configuration with a higher gear ratio. In addition to the CP3 injection pump, Duramaxtuner also added an Exergy 10mm stroker-pump for copious amounts of fuel. The stock dual turbo setup is gone and a 67.7mm Stealth unit operates in the valley with a 91mm Borg Warner S500 acting as the primary source of force fed air. The big switch from an air-to-air intercooler to an air-to-water intercooler will be handled by WCFAB. This upgrade will reduce the air charge temperature, thus reducing piston temp and prolonging engine life.
