Ported Blower GT500 vs. Twin Turbo F-150 – Street Digs

May 18th, 2022

What we have here is a bit of Shelby-on-Shelby action. What’s the best part? It’s on the streets (of Mexico). Shall we have a look at the vehicles?

The 2014 Ford Mustang is a GT500, which is loaded with a supercharged 5.8-liter V8 motor. In stock condition, the Mustang GT500 can generate 662hp and 631 lb.-ft. of torque. This little creampuff has been upgraded with a Kong ported blower, a set of long tube exhaust headers and a Coastal tune. She is sleek and fast.

The Ford F-150 Super Snake has been modified as well. The supercharger has been deleted in favor of a Hellion twin turbo setup. This truck looks and runs as well as any you’ve ever seen. From electronics to exhaust, this Snake has the best of everything. Is the modified Mustang about to learn this lesson the expensive way? Only one way to find out.

After carefully marking off the eighth-mile, the competitors line up and proceed with the burnouts.

The flagman walks out and intensity builds. The light drops and both vehicles lunge ahead. The Mustang spins briefly and the pickup grabs the advantage. It looks like the F-150 is set to pull away – but wait – the Mustang has traction and he’s gaining ground fast. The car gobbles up pavement, closing the gap between the two. The Mustang runs out of real estate, losing the contest by the narrowest of margins.

One more try for the Mustang. Can he vindicate himself or is the Snake too much for him?
