Turbo 2JZ Swapped Chevy Colorado vs. Turbo Mustang – 60 to 150 MPH

March 15th, 2024

Delving into the late hours of the evening – and the wee hours of the morning – we encountered these rivals in their thunderous chariots. At considerable expense they have assembled garish mounts destined to achieve victorious results. Let’s have a look at the hardware.

On the right is the Chevrolet Colorado pickup. If not for the slicks on all four corners, this compact sized work truck would be a total street sleeper. The all-wheel drive Colorado has undergone some extensive modifications. The stock engine was tossed aside for an inline 6-cylinder 3.0-liter Toyota 2JZ engine. Used in early Supra models, the 2JZ is considered bulletproof. This truck owner chose to add a big turbocharger to the import mill. The combination seems to be working in his favor. It runs like a scalded dog.

In the other lane is the Ford Mustang GT. The Mustang needs no introduction, but here it is anyway. Under the hood is a Gen 3 Coyote swap with a massive turbocharger. The modular V8 5.0-liter engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This car has that typical Mustang exhaust note with an added assault in the senses from a giant turbo.

This looks like a great race from 60 to 150 mph.
