Tesla Model S Performance vs. Lamborghini Aventador – Quarter Mile Drag Race

April 7th, 2020

Talk about apples and oranges – this drag race features a pair of competitors that are near polar opposites. One is a heavy sedan, powered by a pair of lithium-ion fed electric motors. It tips the scales at a sluggish 4,491-pounds and has four-doors. The other is a space age supercar with dihedral doors. No electric motors here, just good old gasoline powered cubic inches. Our second competitor weighs-in at just 3,582-pounds and has a mid-mounted engine.

The overweight sedan is the all-new Tesla Model S Performance. It is capable of producing the equivalent of 825hp. It can also accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.4-seconds.

On the other hand, the Lamborghini Aventador S is the “Boy Dog” of the Lambo lineup. It features a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 that churns out 740hp and 507 lb.-ft. of torque. With a sticker price of just over $400K, the Aventador can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.5-seconds. This should be a close contest.

Both cars are all-time all-wheel drive. Will the added weight of the Tesla slow it down, despite the extra horsepower and instantaneous torque of the electric motors? Will the Lamborghini drive around the Tesla near the finish line? Watch the video to find out.
