Tesla Dominates Quarter-Mile Street ClassSo, what do you think? Are we ready to concede the 1/4-mile to the electrics? Speaking just for me – I say heck no – but it is fun to watch these ultra reliable cars run unbelievably consistent times, over and over again. Personally, you can give me a gas burner with a supercharger or a couple of turbos every time but when it comes to index racing, it’s difficult to compete with a car that performs exactly the same on every pass.

Helping the Tesla to achieve these consistent 1/4-mile passes is an all-wheel drivetrain and a network of electric motors that equate to 762hp. Despite being a luxury sedan, a bone stock P85D (in Ludicrous mode) is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8-seconds.
