Leno’s 760HP GT500 Powered 1968 Ford Bronco

July 13th, 2020

Popular television personality and avid car collector Jay Leno has no shortage of impressive automobiles. This particular example is certainly not your typical drag car, but it is interesting and a ton of fun from a street sleeper perspective. Let’s have a closer look at this collaborative effort so beautifully accomplished by Ford Performance, LGE-CTS and the SEMA Garage.

First of all, the exterior is absolutely flawless. Jay will likely want to keep this one on the pavement to avoid the nicks and scratches that go along with trekking through the forest. Leno picked out the Ford Blue paint and white top in keeping with the factory look of the first-generation Bronco. The chassis is a custom tubular racing setup. The interior is also nearly stock to retain the street sleeper appearance.

Where this four-wheel drive monster gets a major upgrade is under the hood. Ford Performance provided a (virtually unobtainable) engine from a 2020 Ford Mustang GT500. The supercharged all-aluminum 5.2-liter mill is capable of producing 760hp. Because the GT500 motor has only been mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission, it took some specialized skill to convert this one for use with a manual gearbox. Tremec took on the task and came through with flying colors.

So much work went into building this unique and stunning ride. Join Jay Leno as he takes you through the process, step-by-step.
