2015 Volkswagen Golf VII R400 Concept: - Start up, Exhaust Sounds & More!
I have filmed the new Ã¼ber-Golf: 2015 Volkswagen Golf VII R400. This
one-off concept is recently unveiled at the Beijing motor show and has been
developed by Volkswagen's R division in a program aimed at both showcasing
its engineering prowess and range of customization.

How To Install Raceland VW MK4 Coilovers
Volkswagen MK4 Installation Video
1. To begin, remove the lugs bolts and front rim from the vehicle.
2. Once the wheel is off, detach any sensors or brake lines that are
attached to the shock body. Simply pull the rubber grommets away from the
shock to remove.
3. You will now remove the nut and bolt that holds the lower portion of the
shock into the vehicle's pinch mount. Discard this nut and bolt once
removed as this bolt is a stretch bolt from the factory and you will need
to replace these items with new OEM units when reinstalling.
4. In order for the OEM strut to slide out of the pinch mount, use the
Raceland strut spreader tool on the back side of the pinch mount. Place the
tool vertically in the mount's opening, place a wrench on the end of the
tool, and twist to open the mount. This will spread the mount far enough to
allow the strut to slip loose.
5. Now, under the hood, remove the upper shock piston nut that holds the
shock to the silver top hat. The strut will become free once this nut is
removed and you're now able to pull the shock out of the wheel well.
6. Using spring compressors, remove the spring tension on the OEM top
mount. Remove the nut that holds the OEM bushing and bearing to the shock.
7. Once you have the OEM suspension taken apart, you will reuse several
pieces to install the Raceland coilover. The order of these items are: the
Raceland coned top hat, the OEM bearing, the OEM rubber bushing, and then
the OEM slim bushing nut. You will now tighten these items down completely
to the coilover.
8. You will now place this unit into the wheel well and up into the shock
tower. Again under the hood, you will place the OEM silver top hat over the
threading for the shock and tighten the supplied Raceland bolt onto the
9. Using the same technique as before, use the Raceland strut spreader tool
to open the pinch mount and lift the vehicle's hub into position onto the
bottom of the coilover. Remove the tool from the backside of the mount
once the shock is fully seated into the mount.
10. Install the new OEM stretch bolt and nut into the hub and tighten this
nut to 45 ft/lbs. It will be very important to ensure this nut and bolt is
tightened to spec to avoid any slipping from the strut when driving.
11. Re-clip any sensors that were detached from the shock body and
reinstall the front wheel.
1. Now moving to the rear, remove the lug bolts and rim from the vehicle.
2. Remove the nut and bolt holding the rear shock lower bushing to the
mount. The vehicle shown in the video is equipped with an aftermarket sway
bar. Your vehicle may or may not have this item yet removal of the lower
shock bolt will remain the same.
3. Now in the wheel well locate the rear shock's upper mount. Remove the
two bolts holding the upper portion of the shock to the shock tower. You
will now be able to completely remove the shock from the vehicle.
4. With the shock completely removed you are now able to pull down on the
vehicle's hub to relieve tension the spring. While doing so pull the rear
spring down and out to remove.
5. With the black plastic cap removed from the top of the rear shock,
remove the upper piston bolt. This will allow you to completely remove the
rear upper mount from your OEM suspension to be reused with the Raceland
6. You'll now install your OEM mount onto the new shock. The OEM dust boot
and dust cover will be reused with the new shock. The order to install
these items will be: the OEM dust cover and dust boot, the top mount washer
supplied with the coilover kit, the OEM top mount, upper washer, and then
the new coilover bolt. Tighten this bolt down completely to the shock.
7. The Raceland spring perch will be installed onto the lower spring seat.
The perch will be placed on the top side of the seat while the washer and
bolt will be installed on the underside to hold the perch in place. Tighten
this bolt until the perch is centered and secure.
8. With the shock fully assembled, line the OEM rear shock mount into its
correct position in the rear shock tower. Reinstall the two mounting bolts
that hold the shock mount to the body of the vehicle.
9. Now that the shock and spring perch are bolted to the vehicle, you'll
install the spring and reinstall the lower shock bolt. It may be helpful to
have another set of hands available for this step. Place the spring on the
spring perch and lift up on the hub of the vehicle ensuring that the top of
the spring lines up with the top spring seat and that the lower shock
bushing is sliding into its mount. Once the shock bushing is lined up,
slide the bolt through the mount and reinstall the nut.
10. The coilover setup for this side will now be complete and the rear
wheel can be reinstalled.
