Behind the Scenes of Top Truck Challenge 2010
Every year I get the honor to work as a Judge for Top Truck Challenge and Four Wheeler Magazine. This includes not only judging the events, but also designing the courses and seting them up. Here are some of the fun scenes behind the awesome off-road event.
Rollin on Dirt Part 1 (Tough Truck Racing)
Rollin on Dirt Part 1. Tough Truck Racing. Filmed and Edited by Charles Wagner. A few clips from Susquehanna Speedway were also filmed by Richard Roeske in the stands. Shot from 2003-2006 At multiple Tough Truck events in Pennsylvania.
This isn't some 2-5 minute video, heck no! Better grab some popcorn! This video is almost 2 hours long!
This project was meant to become a DVD but it never happened. The footage just ended up getting too cluttered and unorganized that When I bought my Jeep in 2006 I just didn't care to finish it and just wanted to focus on making the Jeep run better and I'm glad of the choice I made because I now have the very kind of Jeep I wanted with a 304 v8 that can slide around the turns.
I decided to post this for several reasons but here's the two MAIN reasons.
1. To show what a Tough Truck event is like, so it'll give you and idea what you'll see going to a event.
2. To encourage the importance of having a roll cage if you race at these events. There are plenty of examples of what happens when you have or don't have a roll cage in this video. One guy in here who rolls his Jeep Cherokee WITHOUT a roll cage is lucky all he needed was stitches in his hand because he could've ended up with a broken neck.
You will see vehicles of all types! Jeep CJs, Honda CRXs, one carrying a taz doll and I have no idea what the heck kind of vehicle it was, Ford Bronco 2s, Subaru Brats, Geo Trackers, full sized pickups, VW GTis, old Ford Fiestas, Dodge D50s, even VW dune buggies.
Some of the events we didn't get to run at don't have us any more such as Shartlesville, and Susquehanna Speedway and their only reason was we were "boring". Ok sure we were boring, not the school bus demolition derby that only had 2 buses and took an hour to do because all they did was back into each other at idle speed, pull forward 10 feet after contact and do it again. The crowd was booing the heck out of them, we were getting the cheers and we were boring? Whatever.
Hope you enjoy the video! Part 2 is going to be WAY better!
SUBARU 's offroad @ Tuff Truck Competition - Clark County Fair 2008
Some of the Subarus at the 2008 Clark County (Washington) Fair Tuff Truck Competition. These clips are in my other 3 vids, but I was asked to make a vid of just the Subaru competitors. 3 wagons and one hatchback sedan. Good Stuff !
'79 Bronco "Rumblebee" gets badass air in tuff trucks!
This is from the June 7th, 2008 competition at the Grant County Fair in Moses Lake. We were the 1st competitor in the 1st round and set the bar pretty high. We got the best air and went in to the second round with teh feeling we only had ourselves to beat..... Little did we know what would happen in round 2....
