Found a bar inside the door that needs to be in the up position. Found some posts on various forums where people used springs to fix the problems. Other paid hundreds of dollars to fix. I bought a spring at Ace hardware for a $2 fix.

Ford Explorer Remote Not Locking Fix
In this Video I show how to fix a fairly common problem with the Ford
Explorer. If you Remote/Key fob unlocks your truck, but does not lock the
truck, this is most likely the problem. The splice from the factory get
moisture in it, and it corrodes. This is a fairly simple fix. I would like
to Thank the guys over at http://www.explorerforum.com with the threads
explaining the problem. Hope this helps some people out. I know a lot of
times a video helps out a lot more then pictures, and diagrams.
How To Find A Vacuum Leak - EricTheCarGuy
Vacuum leaks are one of the biggest causes of engine performance problems.
This video is pretty straight forward in it's approach to finding a vacuum
leak. On thing I might mention is that not all vacuum leaks are at the
engine. Some HVAC systems run on engine vacuum and can cause a leak under
the dash in some cases. I've even seen vacuum operated door locks. Just be
sure to be careful spraying flammable stuff on a hot engine, you don't want
to take one problem and make it a whole lot worse. You can also use a spray
bottle with water to do this same test. It may not be as effective, but you
don't have to worry about spraying a flammable substance on a hot engine.
For more information on diagnosing engine performance issues, check out
this article I wrote.

2013 Chevy Equinox v Ford Explorer v Jeep Grand Cherokee Off-Road Mashup AWD Tech Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The brand new 2013 Chevrolet Equinox and the Ford
Explorer and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Overland don't have a lot in
common. However all three of these vehicle have a very different approach
to powering all four wheels, in other words, they all have one form or
another of all-wheel-drive and terrain management technology. We thought it
would be interesting, informative and fun to try these three very different
AWD vehicles off-road in a real world test to see which one can best handle
our Colorado Mountain off-road terrain. In this battle of 4X4 people
haulers we take all three vehicles up our standard rugged Colorado trail to
see which one can make it all the way to the top. Check out another fun and
real world TFLcar Mashup test as we get wet, muddy and rocky in this
off-road AWD technology comparison and review.
