The Barn Find 427 Comet Caliente - The Auto Archaeologist
I was surfing the internet and came across a post from a guy asking about this car in his barn. He knew what it was; he just wanted to show what a cool car it was. Never having seen a car like that before, I inquired about it and discovered it was only a short drive from my family place in Wisconsin. So I was off to see a car I never knew existed, a 1967 Mercury Comet Caliente R-code 427 with dual four-barrels and a four-speed. The Comet gets the jump wheels up and runs 12.16@110.20mph as the Hellcat spins off the line and comes on strong to run a 13.89@123.08 mph. Mind you this is the Hellcat that ran a 10.87@127.79mph a week before on drag radials. So is this race fair seeing both are in "Street Trim"? Make sure you watch till the end of the video to see the 10.87 Hellcat run. Let the controversy and haters begin...
