A small-sized adult female crash test dummy is placed in the
driver's seat and is secured with a seat belt. The test vehicle,
angled at 75 degrees, is then pulled sideways at 20 mph into
a 25-cm diameter pole at the driver's seating location. This
test mimics a side impact crash involving a narrow, fixed
object like a utility pole or tree.

Test details:
The Chevrolet Sonic was introduced in the 2012 model year as a replacement for the Chevrolet Aveo.
Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. The driver side curtain airbag deployed during the crash. After the dummy moved forward into the frontal airbag, its head contacted the side curtain airbag.
Injury measures — Measures taken from the neck, chest, and both legs indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. A high head acceleration occurred when the dummy's head hit the steering wheel through the airbag, indicating that head injuries would be possible.

Crash test dummies representing an average-sized adult
male and a small-sized adult female are placed in the
driver and front passenger seats, respectively, and are
secured with seat belts. Vehicles are crashed into a fixed
barrier at 35 miles per hour (mph), which is equivalent to a
head-on collision between two similar vehicles each moving
at 35 mph.

Thumbs up for the crash dummies!
