My new 460 in my 1971 LTD. C-6, 2200 stall, 2.75:1 ring and pinion, about 400 hp 530 lb. ft. Car has a huge amount of power. It short shifts(4500 rpm) and hesitates because of a heavy secondary spring(black) and still accelerates like mad. I'm going to do some carburetor tuning and find a way to shift manually while holding the camera, then post a new video. I'm pretty sure it will hit 100 in around 10 seconds properly tuned.
Ford 460 trying to "WOT launch" from dead stop to 90 mph
Just me messing around... Trying to launch WOT requires "pedaling" to
control wheelspin even with a spool. New carburetor!! 650 Holley DP with
custom 1:1 linkage and ford kickdown by myself. This very mild 460 engine
is well matched- cam, carburetor, and intake are all done making power at
5500 rpm. Still running manifolds also. Had some carburetor heat after a
1 hour drive.
1976 Ford Thunderbird 460 V8 early drive
One of the first times I had my 1976 Thunderbird on the road in May 2008.
All stock except for dual Exhaust and
blocked EGR. Saw very little road/maintenance for several years prior to
my ownership and ran pretty weak, with a noticeable miss. By the end of
the 2008 season I replaced plugs, wires and coil. It ran a bit better but
the best improvement came from an MSD ignition and Edelbrock Performer carb
The car was sold in October 2012. I decided to restore a '68 Galaxie

#335 - DET - 1970 Ford LTD
For sale in our Detroit showroom is a 1970 Ford LTD. Built to be a
comfortable cruiser, this big Ford will be a head-turner wherever you take
it! This LTD has only had two owners, and with just over 11,000 miles on
the odometer, it’s a true survivor car! Despite being extremely clean and
solid, this Ford was treated to a complete frame-off restoration in 2006,
and is ready to start taking home trophies during the summer cruising
season! The car has always been taken care of, retaining all exterior
sheetmetal and trim, and only needed a fresh coat of the factory Dark Ivy
Green Metallic to be a head-turner again! A big car needs a big engine to
push it down the road, and this Ford retains its original and
numbers-matching 351 Windsor under the hood, that was also rebuilt at the
time of the restoration. The 351 was not rebuilt to stock 1970 Ford
specifications, and puts out a bit more horsepower than it did the
day it rolled off the line, with 10-1 compression, a mild cam, Edelbrock
performer aluminum intake, 750 cfm carb, and air cleaner, so when you put
the pedal down, this big Ford will get up and go! The transmission is the
FMX automatic, and the power meets the ground through an 8.8 rear end with
3.50 gears. When you open the doors and sit in this beauty, you’ll think
that you’re sitting in a brand new car, but the interior is actually the
same interior that was installed back in 1970! With a powerful motor and a
comfortable interior that rivals Cadillacs, this LTD is the best of both
worlds! If you want a classic that is suited for everyday driving, or even
longer road trips with your family and friends, then this is the car for
you! Options on the car include: A/C, AM radio, power brakes, power
steering, seat belts, cloth and vinyl interior, and raised white letter
tires wrapped around rally wheels. Its not often that you find a classic
that has been professionally-restored and treated with such care, so
don’t miss out on the opportunity to own this big piece of Detroit steel!
Located in our Detroit showroom, this 1970 LTD can be viewed in greater
detail, including HD photos and video, at www.GatewayClassicCars.com, or

New acceleration run... 3.70 gear and mini-spool. Speedometer HAS been
recalibrated with 20-tooth orange speedometer gear, so don't even try
arguing it's accuracy(former gear was a 16-tooth). Sorry the video is
shaky- holding a camera and manually shifting this thing is difficult, and
you have to hold on more now than ever!!
